PBI/GORDON

PBI/Gordon was founded in 1947 as Private Brands Inc. It was a pesticide formulator in addition to private label packager for firms serving the agricultural industry. The company purchased the Gordon Chemical Co. in 1956 and began to branch out with their own line of agricultural insecticides. In 1967, they officially became PBI/Gordon Corporation, combining the original company name with their new chemical line. The company created the product Trimec® - the first chemical manufactured for the turf market – in 1969. Trimec is PBI/Gordon’s best known line of products and remains the basis for the company’s success today. PBI/Gordon is also well known for their more recent ProForm® line which includes SpeedZone®, Q4® Plus and Surge® Herbicides.

Since that time, PBI/Gordon has expanded into the consumer lawn, garden, farm, and ranch market, animal health and specialty product and veterinary product markets. The most recent expansion has been into the pet care market with the Lambert Kay® line. In 1994, the company became a 100% employee-owned company. The company’s corporate headquarter is located in Kansas City, MO with manufacturing facilities in Kansas City and Crestline, Kansas and Pensacola, Florida.

In business together for more than 25 years, Tom Irwin and PBI/Gordon exemplify and honor the definition of the term loyalty. Both companies value most how to do the right thing by people and clients – especially helping clients achieve their goals. As strategic partners, both PBI/Gordon and Tom Irwin know success is built on trust and quality products. We strive daily to achieve both and help focus on the long-term health of turf.
